How can you look at a will that's been filed with the probate court?

Mark: I’m wanting to know when is a will viewable or accessible online through court records or such.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Okay. When somebody passes away, whoever has possession of the original will is obligated to put that will on deposit with a probate clerk in the county where the decedent resided. Once it's on deposit, it is public record and anybody has a right to look at it. I always think in terms of you driving down to a probate court, and going up to the clerk, and pulling out the hard copy of it. Steve, whether you as a layman would have access to it online, I'm not so sure. Do you know Chrissy?

Attorney Chris Merrill: Yes, people can see online access-

Tom: Can you?

Chris: -the wills that were put on deposit.

Tom: Okay.

Chris: Yes.

Tom: I know that we can. The Olsen Law Group can because we have an account with the probate clerk. I'm not sure that a layman can but-

Chris: Mark.

Tom: -Mark, one way or another, whether it's marching yourself down to the probate court or somehow going online, if the person is deceased and that will is on deposit with a probate court, it's public record and you could take a look at it.

Chris: Right.
