Help your children to avoid arguing when you pass away

Help your children to avoid arguing when you pass away.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Christie, we love to help people with their estate planning, help them get their affairs in order so that when they pass away things are simple, easy, inexpensive for their children. The more it is simple, easy, inexpensive, the less likely it is that the children are going to be arguing among themselves when mom and dad pass away. I've been a lawyer for 40 years. In the early days, I would say that when mom and dad passed away, rare was the day when the kids were arguing between themselves. These days, when I hear mom and dad had passed away, I'm assuming there's going to be at least a 50% chance that the kids are going to be arguing among themselves and potentially never speak to each other again.

Attorney Chris Merrill: Sadly, but absolutely true, more arguments than ever before. That's why it is so important to put things in writing because if you do then and you have it done with a lawyer, it really-- you are helping your kids and loved ones to avoid those arguments in this situation.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Well, let's just say here's two choices, okay? One is mom and dad have passed away, they failed to do planning, what do we got? We got chaos. Chaos leads to infighting and arguing between the kids.

Attorney Chris Merrill: Exactly.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Come to Olsen Law Group, get everything done, we get everything planned out, put everything in a notebook nice and organized. Take all the right steps to avoid probate. Mom and dad pass away, everything just falls in line, boom, boom. Everything get [unintelligible 00:01:33] done with minimum cooperation or even conversation between the kids. It's just that simple.

Attorney Chris Merrill: It really makes it easy for the kids and really a peace of mind for parents. That's what we're trying to accomplish.
