How long does it take to evict a tenant in Florida?

Attorney Tom Olsen: How long does it take to evict a tenant in Florida?

Attorney Rob Solomon: Evicting tenants is a full-blown legal procedure. It is a lawsuit like any other lawsuits and in many ways, it's more complicated than your standard lawsuit because there are various notices and rules that you have to follow. When we talk about how long something takes, it's not like writing a will, where I think you could give somebody an idea how long it takes to write a will. We have to see how does the tenant, how does the person on the other side of the case respond. What I would say is if they don't follow up, if they don't file an answer, they don't put money in the court registry. I've done evictions in two and a half, three weeks. If they create if they file answers, put money in the court registry, seek hearings, which they're entitled to, it could be two or three months.
