How much does a will cost?

The cost of a will or trust varies depending on the client's needs. However, an estate planning attorney should provide a free initial consult and should do your estate plan on a flat fee basis.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Keith in Viera. Keith, you're on News 96.5. Go ahead.

Keith: Hey Tom, love your show.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Thank you.

Keith: Listen every weekend.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Thank you.

Keith: I've got a quick question for you along with the last caller. You have four steps to the will. I'm in my 60s, I'm not married. I do have some assets and I would like to put a will together just in case I pass away. I may leave my things to somebody.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Right.

Keith: Is there a cost on this for, if I found somebody in my area? I'm in Brevard. Give me an idea of ballpark on a fee for something like what you're doing,

Attorney Tom Olsen: Keith, it is just too hard to quote you fees over the air like this. I would say most attorneys who do wills, trusts, estate planning like I do, offer a free initial consult, so take him or her up on it. Go see them, it doesn't cost you a dime. Together, you guys can put together a plan. Once that plan is put together, that lawyer or I, we can quote you fees for it.

Keith: Okay. Thank you very much.

Attorney Tom Olsen: All right, Keith. Thank you for calling. Thank you for being a loyal listener. We appreciate it.
