How Long Does Child Support Last?
Peggy: Good morning. I have a simple question. How long does child support last? Age 18, 25, what?
Attorney Tom Olsen: Here in the state of Florida, child support will last until the child turns 18 or graduates from high school -- whichever comes later. So often, kids graduate high school when they're 18 and a half. That's how long child support would last.
Peggy: So it doesn't matter if they go to college?
Attorney Tom Olsen: There's nothing under Florida law that would require a parent to pay for their children's college education, or pay child support beyond 18.
Peggy: All right. Thank you very much.
